Los Abuelos
I was fortunate to have had the privilege of growing up with not just one, two, or three, but rather six of my grandparents. During my adolescence, I had the pleasure of meeting two of my bisabuelas, my great-grandmothers.
We have a few valued family photos. I chose to keep the detail available in the photo in this piece; I used photographs of their faces. I used upcycled clothing to bring the piece to life.
Félix and Guadalupe both came to the US in their old age to be taken care of by their children. Mis Abuelos lived in my mother’s house for many years and I loved hearing their stories. I always held a deep appreciation for listening to their stories.
